Bramston is a small friendly canoe club based in Witham, Essex. We meet for pool sessions Monday evenings 20:15 to 21:15 at Witham Leisure Centre, Spinks Lane, CM8 1EP  for training and to arrange paddling trips. These include Sea kayaking, white water kayaking, surf kayaking, open boating and touring.

If you have never paddled before or just want to improve your roll, we have a safe and warm environment where you can practice and learn. British Canoeing instructors are ready to help you in every aspect of kayaking. If you are under 18 years of age you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times whilst in the pool.

Following government directives regarding Coronavirus, Witham Lesiure Centre has CLOSED. This means club Monday night pool sessions are now suspended indefinitely.
As you may all be aware the Government have now relaxed the current restrictions so that from Monday 1st June up to 6 people from different households may meet outside whilst observing social distancing rules.
After a quick consultation the Committee have come to the conclusion that club paddles will remain SUSPENDED until further notice. This was a difficult decision given that there is now some relaxation in the government guidelines. However the committee felt that the maximum allowed number of 6 people was not compatible with arranging club paddles when the club has far, far more members than 6.
Of course you may decide to go for a paddle either by yourself or with others (up to a maximum of 6) BUT these will be considered peer paddles and will NOT fall under the club umbrella and the associated British Canoeing protections.
You can still use the club canal licence (as long as your club membership is up to date).
If you do go out for a paddle please take into account your skill level and stay well within your boundaries so as not to put pressure on the emergency services.
The Committee will re-assess this policy whenever there is new guidance from the Government and/or British Canoeing and communicate this to members as soon as possible. Hopefully we can squash this Covid-19 bug in the near future and all be back out on the water together soon!
