Where's my boat gorn ?DSCF1148

Bramston is a small friendly members only canoe club based in Witham, Essex. We are a very active club and our members paddle all year round in a wide range of canoeing and kayaking activities such as sea kayaking, open boating, white water and surf.

If you have never paddled before or just want to improve your roll, we have a safe and warm environment where you can practice and learn. We meet for pool sessions on Monday evenings 19:45 to 20:45 at Witham Leisure Centre, Spinks Lane, CM8 1EP  for training and to arrange paddling trips.

British Canoeing instructors are ready to help you in every aspect of canoeing & kayaking. If you are under 18 years of age you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian that is a member at all times.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

Unfortunately with the club currently fully subscribed we are unable to accept membership applications for the time being. Please bear with us whilst we draw up plans that will allow us to accept applications once again. In the meantime you can add yourself to our waiting list by emailing us your details.

HOW TO JOIN BRAMSTON CANOE CLUB

For those new to paddling (or a bit rusty!) we have a 5 session coached course designed to have you confident on the water and ready for a basic river trip by the end of the course. The cost of this is £50 payable in advance and we have intakes every 7 weeks (This payment is non-refundable should you not finish the course).
Alternatively if you’re not sure if you want to commit to a 5 week course then we offer the option of a ‘taster’ session. This is a one off session at £10. Our coaches can give you a few hints and tips and go through a wet exit with you. If you wish to, you can then join the next intake of our coaching course.
After you have finished your 5 week course you are welcome to apply for club membership, Of course if you already have some experience you are more than welcome to directly apply for club membership.

There are two membership options:
Basic membership: This is £35.00 per year and includes access to club activities and equipment. There is then a charge of £5.00 for each pool session attended.
Full membership: This is £140.00 per year and includes access to club activities, equipment and no further pool fees.

All membership applications are subject to approval by the club’s committee. Membership applications should be made by sending a completed membership form (downloadable from the website) to: secretary@bramstoncanoeclub.org.

Bramston Canoe Club is not a business or run for profit.

Bramston Canoe Club is a Club, made up of a group of like minded individuals who enjoy paddling and want to share their passion and go paddling with others. The Membership fees pay for the club canal licence, club equipment (kit in the cupboard at the pool) and British Canoeing affiliation. The pool fees pay for the weekly swimming pool hire. Any profit the club is lucky enough to make from the pool sessions goes back into the club (e.g. updating and replacing club kit).
All committee members are club members that volunteer their own free time to help with the smooth running of the club. They are all unpaid.
All coaches are club members that volunteer their own free time at club pool sessions, club trips and club training sessions. They are all unpaid. The club sometimes pays the fees for relevant training courses like welfare, safeguarding and child protection.
For all members and coaches, paddling is their hobby. They pay for their own additional British Canoeing training, safety courses and coaching updates for their own personal paddling improvement and donate this knowledge and their time to help other members.
We all work as a team helping each other on our paddling journey together.
