Post Annual General Meeting 2019

Our Annual General Meeting has been confirmed for Sunday 10th February
at 10am. The venue details are below:

Marconi Sailing Club
Stansgate Abbey Farm
Stansgate Rd
Steeple
CM0 7NU

Please find a safety briefing for the venue attached to this email.

I would like to urge all members to attend. It is your club and
without your support and input the club could not move forward.

During the AGM we will be electing a new committee for 2019. There are
a few ring fenced posts such as Vice Chair (taken by the out going
Chair person for committee continuity) and Treasurer (This key
position takes a lot of time, training and commitment plus a level of
understanding spreadsheets and figures).

The following persons have already been nominated/agreed to stand for
election to the committee:

Club Chairman: Andrew Baldwin
Club Vice Chairman: John Hefford
Club Treasurer: Steve Moore
Club Secretary: Mike Dalby
Club Equipment Officer: Andy Evans
Club Events Officer: Barry Iszard
Club Committee Member: Cheryl-Ann Kotze

If you wish to stand on the committee please don’t hesitate to contact
me or a member of the current committee. If you can or want to help
out in some other way that would be great, please make this known to a
current committee member or bring it up at the AGM.

I am currently in the process of putting together the agenda for the
AGM so if you have anything you would like to propose, discuss, or are
too afraid to ask, please email me or any other committee member in
the next few days. No question is too silly, too big or too small! I
will send out the agenda to all members once it's been finalized. If
you think of anything you want to discuss after the agenda is
published you may still bring it up at the AGM during "Any Other
Business".

After the AGM we intend to go for a sea paddle. For those who intend
paddling there will be a £1.00 voluntary launch fee. This will go to
Marconi Sailing Club to help with cleaning etc and as a courtesy for
using their facilities. If possible I would like to have in advance
some idea of numbers intending paddling as this is an agreement we
have with Marconi Sailing Club. As this will be an official Bramston
CC paddle we will be covered under British Canoeing insurance.

Please arrive at the venue no earlier than 9.40 am and no later than
9.55 am. Please bring your own cups if you want a cup of tea. The
committee will supply the vitals. Nearer the date I will send out
directions and instructions as to arriving at the site as it is a
gated entrance with key holder access only.

Look forward to seeing you all!

Mike Dalby
Club Secretary
Bramston Canoe Club (Witham)

Hello Mike,

I will be attending the AGM. I'm not sure if I will be able to contribute much, but would like to listen and see what goes on.

I would also like to join the post meeting sea paddle if it would be suitable for me? It will likely be my maiden voyage for my new sea boat! It should give me enough time between now and then to get it cleaned up and ready for launching!

If there is any thing else I should know regarding the meeting or sea paddle, please let me know.

Thanks.

Paul.

The Post AGM paddle
I've asked some of the 3* sea paddlers to come up with an appropriate paddle plan for the conditions and participants. So we'll see what the plans are. The weather forecast is all over the place at the moment so lets weight and see what we get on the day.

Going to be an interesting post AGM paddle tomorrow. Tides, funnily enough haven't changed 09:04 low tide 0.5m. High tide 15:48 4.9m. If we finish the AGM on time then realistically we should be on the water for 13:00 the tide will be 2.86m so Thirslet spit will most likely be underwater. Forecast wind is WNW 288deg F5 gusting F7 so if we head out east we will be going against the green and crinkly monster - should be fun, because after a fry up (I'm taking my own bacon and eggs) we should whizz back to Osea. That is of course if we head out east. Shame the wind kites haven't arrived. This would be perfect conditions to have tried them out. Lets see how it all changes tomorrow - Im not ruling out dolphins and mermaids yet!
........and Mike wants to wet his boat. I think he's going to flood it.
