Nayland to Stratford St Mary.
09:15ish saw five people unloading boats and equipment on the bridge at Horksley Road, Nayland,CO6 4JP. This was followed by a car shuttle to Stratford St Mary Lower Street CO7 6JR and then we were off. Through the corrugated iron tunnel and onto the box weir taking a quick detour river left – very pretty short stretch of water going to a closed sluice gate.
We continued down the river to the portage where someone had forgotten their wheels, possibly the same person in the weir above and popped in by the Archimedes Screw, where we messed around at the bottom of the weir.
From here it was quite a fast run with river flow assistance to Langham flumes and lunch.
After a spot of lunch it was an easy run to Stratford St Mary, where Alison got kicked off the boat.
…..and then we all went home. Not a bad way to spend your Friday. Thanks to the paddlers, Kevin and Alison, Estelle, and Andie B.
