Chelmer Tour with Bramston Canoe Club
(Witham Essex)
Springfield Lock to Hoe Mill Lock (10 mile paddle) Car shuttle required.
This paddle is subject to flow and weather.

Meeting Time: 09:00 to set-up car shuttle and hope to be on the water 10/10:30.
Meeting Place:
Records Office, Wharf Road, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 6YT. Parking is pay and display near by now.
Start Place: Springfield Lock, Chelmer Canal after car shuttle.
Lunch stop: Half way point. Stoneham lock. Pack lunch/picnic required (no shop)
Tea stop: Papermill Lock (tearoom and toilets if required) this also can be a finish point.
Finish Point:
Hoe Mill Lock, The Causeway, Woodham Walter, Essex CM9 6RB. Parking on the road
There are a total of 10 locks to portage.
Last year was a great inter-cub meet with a chance to meet and share idea’s with fellow paddlers on the trip.
We also managed to book excellent weather.
A boat licence is required to paddle the Chelmer from Essex Water Ways @ £6:50 per craft purchased on the day from a Bramston CC Member at the start. Boat Licence is also available from Paper mill or Hoe mill lock keepers.
