We kicked off the month with a trip to Devon, where we took on the Upper Dart, and Dart Loop on the R. Dart on the Saturday and the River Walkman and the River Tavey on the Sunday. There were so many of us that we had to split into smaller groups. Excellent turnout by the club and an excellent weekend for everyone. This was followed a week later by a mixed club group spending a week in Anglesey, where some of us did their Open water Navigation course and took the opportunity of paddling in advanced sea conditions (F6+ very big waves). Roger learnt to swim in these conditions and, boy is he good! Here is Roger with his well earnt swimmers trophy, which he collected a couple of days later.
The rest of the week was spent in slightly calmer conditions exploring the various parts of the island including some new launching places. The week was given a cherry on top when several pods of dolphins started doing aerobatics in front of us and swimming in the same tidal race – fantastic. Whilst this group were away the rest of the club were doing various local trips. Moving on toward the end of November, a small group ventured onto the Chelmer Blackwater to check out the new improvements at the bottom of Rushes weir and eat cake at Paper Mill lock.
And just as November was about to expire several club members visited Lee Valley on the Sunday just to see the month out in style.
